Terms of service
Last updated: 2026-06-28 (open beta)
Unfurl is in open beta. By creating an account you agree to these terms. They are written plainly because they should be readable; they are still binding.
1. What Unfurl does
Unfurl converts videos you provide into AI-generated, transcript-grounded guides with a chat tutor. Generation uses third-party services (Anthropic, OpenAI) to transcribe and summarize. Output quality varies; nothing is guaranteed.
2. Your responsibilities
- You must own the rights to use any video you submit, or have a clear fair-use basis. You retain those rights; we do not claim them.
- You will not use Unfurl to generate content that is illegal, infringing, harassing, or designed to defraud users.
- You will not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or share your account.
3. Source & attribution
Each guide is generated from a video you provide and links back to it. The source video remains the work of its original creator, who retains all rights in it — Unfurl claims no ownership of the source. Our guides are transcript-grounded companion notes that point back to the original; they are not a copy of it or a replacement for it.
4. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
Unfurl respects intellectual-property rights and responds to valid notices under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe a guide generated on Unfurl uses your copyrighted work without authorization, send a notice to our designated agent at hello@unfurl.sh including:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim was infringed;
- the URL of the specific guide or material, so we can locate it;
- your name, address, email, and phone number;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law; and
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf.
We remove or disable access to material that is the subject of a valid notice, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address with your signature, identification of the material and where it appeared, your contact details, your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if outside the U.S., any district where we may be found), and a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the material was removed by mistake.
5. Subscription & billing
- Free trial: seven days from signup, no card required.
- After the trial, continued access requires an active paid subscription (Starter, Pro, or Power). Pricing is shown on the billing page and managed via Stripe.
- Per-user monthly usage is capped to bound costs. Hitting the cap pauses generation and chat until the period rolls over or you ask us to raise it.
- You can cancel any time from the Stripe Customer Portal. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
6. Refunds
- Your seven-day free trial lets you evaluate Unfurl before paying, so subscription fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period begins. Cancelling stops all future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- One-time credit top-ups are non-refundable once any credits in that pack have been used. Unused, unexpired packs can be refunded on request.
- We honor every refund right the law gives you, including statutory withdrawal or cooling-off rights where they apply.
- We also consider good-faith requests โ an unexpected charge, or a failure on our side โ case by case. Email hello@unfurl.sh within 14 days of the charge.
7. Beta caveats
- Features may change, break, or disappear without notice while Unfurl is in beta.
- We may delete data with reasonable notice if our infrastructure changes โ though we will export your guides for you on request.
- SLA: none. We aim for stability but make no uptime guarantees.
8. Liability
Unfurl is provided "as is". To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Our total liability is capped at fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Termination
You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice when reasonable.
10. Changes
These terms may change. Material changes will be communicated by email at least seven days before they take effect.
